Zamatech has provided professional engineering services to Airservices Australia since 2008. These services have focussed on Control and Monitoring and remote surveillance projects.

Since 2008 Zamatech has provided continuous Professional Engineering services to the national Air Navigation Service Provider (Airservices Australia). The nature of this work has included Planning, Development and Engineering of projects for Information and Communications Technology projects at the highest system integrity levels required by Civil Aviation Systems. These systems have been generally Mission Critical Control, Monitoring and reporting systems for aviation infrastructure using real time database technology, data acquisition and networking, requiring a high degree of technical prudence, design for safety and high RMA (Reliability, Maintainability and Availability).

National Technical Monitoring System (NTMS)

NTMS is a national infrastructure SCADA system used to monitor navigation aids, radars, Radio Systems, IT systems, Aviation Information Systems, Infrastructure Systems including Power Systems, Communications Systems, HVAC, Electrical and Building Services. Zamatech successfully developed a national survey of the health of the existing system, a Concept of Operation (CONOPS) for a new system, and developed requirements for a replacement system in 2009. Zamatech remained with the project planning team, and the project Technical Working Group (TWG) through to procurement and selection of replacement SCADA technology. The new system will roll out during 2012/2013, with Zamatech remaining on the System Engineering Team responsible for delivery of the project.

Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting - Runway Viewing Cameras (RVC)

Zamatech gathered requirements and developed a Project Proposal to extend the system of Runway Viewing cameras required at regional airports, that allows the Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting Services provider to view final approach and touchdown of aircraft as required by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. This project rolls out between 2010/2012.

Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting - National Fire Alarm System

The National Fire alarm monitoring system gathers Fire Alarms from 21 airports around the country, delivering these to the National Monitoring Centre and thence to the Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) units at each Aerodrome. Zamatech developed a successful Project Proposal to improve the existing system build and expand the system on standards based technology, linking the system to the Fire Control Centres (FCC) located at each airport. This also served to replace the aging Copper based signal cabling, Voice Grade Data Lines (VGDL lines) and Permitted Attachment Public Lines (PAPL lines) phased out by Telstra with 3G telemetry in 2010/2011.

National Telemetry Replacement Project

Zamatech developed the Project Proposal to replace Remote Telemetry Units (RTUs) with state of the art equipment developed by Airservices in 2007/2008. This project involved the migration of over 5,000 discrete monitoring functions distributed throughout over the entire Australian Continent. These functions included radio navigation equipment, facility alarms, communications failures, fire alarms, security alarms, battery alarms, power system alarms, UPS alarms, and HVAC alarms.

Remote Tower Technology Project

Airservices Australia is trialling a new Visual Technology aimed at delivering Air Traffic Control services to remote locations. Zamatech is part of the Engineering and evaluation team (Technical Working Group) developing the trial project at Alice Springs during 2011/2012. This is a complex Systems Engineering task involving a multiplicity of engineered systems and will complete trials in late 2012. Zamatech is developing Systems Engineering Management Plan, Integrated evaluation plan, Engineering Requirements Collection and support for the development of System Design Description.
